Ever So Much Better Than Brady

I used the competing Brady Paramedic Text about three years ago and was shocked at the huge number of contradicitions and outright errors in it. I am a National Registry medic but I recently read this Text in preparing for a written exam in another state that does not offer reciprocity. Mosby's book is EVER SO MUCH BETTER. It has a consistency that aids the learner rather than causing frustration. It reads like it was written by one person, whereas Brady reads like it wass written by three dozen people who never met each other. The Mosby book is articulate and does a good job of explaining new and complex topics to learners with diverse backgrounds. It has chapters devoted to many of the "new" areas of EMS, such as WMD. It makes the difficult topics manageable. For example, the Cardiac chapter, while long, is well written and builds from a clear foundation and focuses on what medics do in the field rather than what cardiologists do in specialty treatment centers.

If you have any choice in the matter, take a class that uses this text and avoid those that try to make do with the Brady book.

Revealing and intimate view into the relationship between the Queen and Count Fersen. I learned a great deal and found the timeline truly helped me understand more about their time together. It was definitely worth the money to purchase the hard bound volume.

About the Author
Steven Babitsky, Esq., is the president of SEAK, Inc, which he founded in 1980. He was a personal injury trial attorney for 20 years and is the former managing partner of the firm Kistin, Babitsky, Latimer & Beitman. He is the seminar leader for the National Expert Witness and Litigation Seminar and was the long time editor of the Expert Witness Journal. Attorney Babitsky is the co-author of numerous texts including Litigating Stress Cases in Workers' Compensation and Understanding The AMA Guides in Workers' Compensation.

James J. Mangraviti, Jr., Esq., has trained hundreds of expert witnesses across the United States and Canada. He is a former trial lawyer with experience in defense and plaintiff personal injury law and insurance law. He currently serves as vice-president and general counsel of SEAK, Inc. Mr. Mangraviti received his BA degree in mathematics summa cum laude from Boston College and his JD degree cum laude from Boston College Law School. A useful book to read before negotiating for anything.

Let's face it, most of us physicians stink at negotiating. We spend our entire education and early career doing what we want to do, which is help people. The negotiating process is, by default, selfish. We negotiate our whole career about a number of things, both in and out of our professional settings. This book gives you the basic tools to get started.

The original asking price is a little steep, but you can find a used copy that will likely be handy.

And, there is a newer version out that is a little more expansive, but less likely to find it used. Not many used copies floating around there, because once a doc typically buys this they'll keep it forever.
