From Library Journal
The technique of using acupressure to relieve pain has been around for 5000 years and even predates acupuncture. It is possible to learn to perform acupressure on oneself by following the well-illustrated instructions and diagrams in this book. Two clearly written chapters give the history, theory behind the technique, and some general instructions, followed by 40 chapters which cover specific disorders--acne, insomnia, shoulder tension, etc.--and how acupressure can help relieve them. There is also a glossary. Libraries that don't have other works on this subject will want this one; those that do will still want to consider this as a worthy additional purchase.

Very interesting and enlightening technique!

This takes a bit to get into and understand, but there are many valid points brought up throughout that are very beneficial. This basically teaches you how to provide your own acupressure therapy. It could be applied by another, but the overall purpose is to teach you how to take care of your own needs, particularly when pain is involved. It is a great concept and can likely provide relief, but it would be essential to read the entire book to understand how and why this practice works. So if your looking for a get fixed quick process, this probably isn't it. Be prepared to read a good amount of text if you intend to do the acupressure properly. Clearly the author is experienced and knows exactly what he is talking about, but some of the medical text can be somewhat annoying, and the author likes to talk about the muscles in medical terms, which would mean looking up these translations in the glossary frequently. This is not fiction, so be prepared to learn.

I am Impressed
By krosmon
Today, I downloaded this book to my Cloud - easier to read it on my computer than on my 1st generation Kindle. I have been suffering for almost 3 months with awful pains in my lower abdomen and groin - I've been using some herbal pain medication and it has helped a bit, but the pain always comes back. I have tried doing Tapping and anything else I can find - the doctor sent me for an Ultrasound last week, but no results so far. Today, the pain was really pretty strong. I saw this book and decided, as far as I can see, tapping is an extension of acupressure as they both concentrate on the meridian points in our bodies, to try this and see what happens. I have not taken any pain medication today. After I worked with it a bit, I took a nap, and lo and behold, the pain is about 1/4 what it was this morning. So, I know this system works. And now that I have it on line, I can always refer back to it if I need to. I am so grateful. Wow, where have I been???

Self Care is at your fingertips!
By D. E-Platt
As a professional massage therapist I've found this book to be an invaluable quick resource for lay people & my personal use as well. My original copy of this book is well over 20 years old, and I still refer back to it as a great reference for pain management for myself & my clients, plus I've bought additional copies & given them out as gifts.

The book has a very useful index for each segment of the body, that is simple to use for everyone. If your intention is to gain relief from physical aches & pains of all types, from headaches & migraines, digestive issues, low back pain & sciatica, without the use of medications, this book on acupressure will be very useful for you. Of course if your health problems are ongoing, please don't forget that no one book should replace seeing your doctor for an evaluation & diagnosis, or making an appointment with your massage therapist!

Michael Reed Gach has written several other wonderful books, which I also have in my collection, and recommend highly. You can also find excellent guidance from this author via his website & facebook pages too.
