Trepanning would be preferable over this book.

I just want my money back. The language used is stilted and some places reads like a series of unrelated words strung together in random patterns. No real explanation of foundational concepts is present here. I would not recommend this book to anyone even if it was free.

A massive load of garbage

When i decided to get this book i did so after reading several reviews of how great it was and how its perfect for beginners, but i had been mislead. All those positive reviews i read came with a disclaimer stating that they had recieved this book for free in exchange for an "honest" review. i confidently went head and purchased this book. the language is terrible. makes little grammatical sense and concepts are hardly explained. i'm not too much of a beginner, but it has been awhile since i have done physics in school despite this i can tell you that basic concepts aren't explained properly at all. I didn't even read through to the end. a couple of pages in and you will see how bad this poorly written book is. i paid for this garbage and this is my honest review: save your money. buy something else.

The description in the title seems misleading

This was not at all what I expected. I was looking for something teaching about how circuit components worked (eg. resistors, transistors, capacitors, etc.) and their different electronic properties, but contrary to the description on the cover, this book doesn't even touch that subject. This seems more a broad overview of the electronic engineering field - a lot of the material seems more like a detailed college course description that doesn't actually teach any of the course content. All that aside, this may be somewhat useful to someone getting into the field as a profession, but I would definitely not recommend it for someone like myself who just does this as a hobby. And last but not least, even if this was the content I wanted, it does not make a good audio book since there are a lot of lists where, as another reviewer states, it seems like the narrator is just throwing out a string of random words.

Bo still has her sharp, witty bite!

One of my favourite urban fantasy authors, Helen Harper continues to offer enthralling, creative, and smart mysteries. I enjoy reading bad-a$$ Bo and her take-charge attitude even when her life is full of challenges--becoming a vampire, 'employed' (aka threatened) by a kakos demon, her father in a coma, having left the New Order (triber detective agency), avoiding the loss of a friend, and her romance forcibly on hold, she still manages to stay independent, unaffected, and her witty dry humor as she helps others. A vigilante of the night--whether you want her 'helping' or not--with a strong attitude and with dry, witty comebacks that have a 'sharp bite' so to speak. The tension between Bo and the other characters are a large part of this one reminding us that Bo can be ruthless but underneath it she is still (barely) hanging onto her morals and humanity, with the plot remaining exciting though fairly even paced until that crazy, tortuous, suprising (and somewhat enraging) cliffhanger of an ending, for which I'm still somewhat upset with Ms Harper. The writing is a beautiful balance between vividly detailed and blase brush-offs that are quintessentially Bo (she only notes things she finds important, so those are the things we read about). There is a bit more romance in this one--thank goodness for more Michael--and more interaction with 'friends' that give a social warmth to uplift and offset all the cold death and horror Bo faces. Another great book that left me both in dire need for more while fearful of what next Bo will be put through!

More Bo, Please!

In this book, Bo is at the mercy of X, unleashed as a vigilante in all the crimes he wants punished. X has warned her, if anyone learns of his place, his identity, they must die. Bo may be isolated from her friends, but they don't make it easy to stay that way. They keep doing dangerous things like walking in her apartment ---X's apartment. She's kept busy trying not to let them get themselves killed as much as she is the Vigilante. Where before she was a Red Angel who saved lives, she's more Angel of Death here.

I would read anything with Bo Blackman in it. Unfortunately, this lovely book is the last of the currently available ones. MORE BO, PLEASE!

A brilliant series by Helen Harper. It is a well written urban fantasy and extremely fast paced. Bo Blackman P.P.I. has left her group and has gone solo because she feels responsible for the death of two beloved friends. In this book Bo Vampire P.I. is trying to find a missing girl who is the daughter of a rail man Bo befriends. The infighting among vampire families is still out of control. There are rules to the number of each family and one family decides to buck the system. A really fast paced read. Enjoy.

Great content, and right to the point.

I've been looking for a book on this subject for a while. There's plenty of pdfs online, but nothing as complete, yet concise as this book.

You will need the right prerequisites about computer architecture and digital electronic to fully appreciate the content. Some Verilog basics is also desirable in my opinion.

After just a few chapters, you will be able to make your first cpu with a complete ALU and sequencer. The following chapters are dedicated to advanced topics like interrupt handling in your CPU, pipeline and superstar architectures, memory hierarchy...

There are many diagrams, which is really helpful given the complexity of the task. Code is also available online.

I really recommend this book if you are interested in microprocessor architecture and understanding how it works under the hood.

I have the Chinese version of this book and it is quite good for beginner.

the verilog code is good to help get you going incrementally. I understand this book is for basic CPU design implementation but would still prefer the author to discuss some performance/power trade-off for the designs in each chapter.

One more thing, you can actually get a copy of the source code from the publisher's website.

I have many children books that teach children about the lives of the saints. None of them compare to this one. Amy Steedman beautifully brings the lives of the saints to life through story in a way that makes them unforgettable. I loved this book so much that after reading the Kindle version I bought a hard copy as well.

I love this book. I ordered this at the right time. I had just kinda broken up with someone. Therefore, I needed confirmation or accountability to ensure I made the right decision. Currently, I'm not dating but it is good to have this if you're Christian and thinking about dating or you are currently dating.

An Amazing Resource

This is a wonderful resource for anyone who is considering dating from a "healthy" perspective. I say "healthy" because sometimes we think that socializing or interacting with the opposite sex is something that comes naturally. After four years of being single (divorced), I need all the help I can get to help me make better decisions and also work on my not so great areas. The authors do a great job of discussing issues with self-love, boundaries, and childhood experiences that might get projected into relationships. I appreciated the honest and realistic approach that acknowledges and addresses "loneliness" and how it can cloud your judgement if you do not pay attention.

This remarkable book is the culmination of an eight-year joint effort between Michael Hedges and John Stropes, a leading teacher and author of other critically acclaimed finger-style guitar books. "I first talked with Michael Hedges about working with him to produce a book of his music in 1986," said Stropes. "Our dream was to do it right. The challenge was to create a guitar book that would give the complete picture the composer's musical intent and a complete technical description for performers. It was clear that this would require an extended vocabulary for notation, expanded technologies for transcription and music typesetting and a new vision in music publishing." The transcriptions contained in Michael Hedges/Rhythm, Sonority, Silence were developed from videotapes of Michael Hedges recorded between 1983 and 1992. The videotapes were made at concerts, master classes, lectures, interviews and special sessions. These special sessions used three cameras (left-hand, right-hand and wide shot) running independent, time-coded tape. Working from these videotapes and using half-speed video and half-speed audio, a rough draft of a transcription was made. Then, discussions with Michael Hedges explicated the composer's intentions. Next, this revised draft of the transcription was compared with the original Windham Hill audio recording to arrive at an exact correspondence. Finally, the material was tested using intermediate and advanced students to ensure that the notation was clear and thorough, and study notes were added to clarify any remaining ambiguities. In addition to the music, this book includes a moving automusicalbiography interspersed with rare and historic photos, original essays on composition, electronics and tunings, a complete discography and tunings database for all of Michael's recorded works.

Great Music Book But Don't Buy this on Amazon!!!

I have this book and it is THE BEST most accurate way to learn Michael Hedges songs on the guitar short of taking guitar lessons from his ghost (RIP M.H.). But you can get this book on Stropes.com for $40, that's right, brand new for FORTY DOLLARS!!! Don't fall for the price gouging here, it is disgusting how much these merchants want to charge and they should be ashamed of their greedy selves. Don't fall for it!

This is one of the most important publications focusing on guitar pedagogy of the 20th century. The book covers many aspects of Hedges' oeuvre in depth, from the gear he used on stage to the essentials of his intricate technique. Most importantly, the book is still in print and is available on the publishers website, brand new, for $40.

An essential for any Michael Hedges fan

I gave this book to my friend who plays classical guitar and has loved Michael Hedges for as long as I can remember. He wanted to start to learn to play some of Hedges' songs. This book is great, but difficult to pick up and play if this style is new to you. There is a DVD of Hedges in concert that I would recommend so that if/when you are having difficulty reading the sheet music, you can see Hedges playing it in front of you.

After working as a wellsite geologist in the North Sea then a geotechnical engineer, Colin joined the Department of Petroleum Engineering in Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh in 1980 where he was responsible for technical and operational supervision of departmental research projects, involving petrophysical core analysis and fluid flow in porous media. He later joined Edinburgh Petroleum Services where he managed its core analysis laboratory equipment division and core testing laboratory, and developed one of the first core analysis audit and laboratory management consultancies in the world. Since then he has managed over 200 core analysis programmes for Helix RDS and LR Senergy and has audited over 50,000 SCAL measurements . His active promotion of closer cooperation between stakeholders and core analysis vendors and his innovative solutions in SCAL data interpretation has ensured that core data are more reliable, robust and representative. Colin developed an industry-leading, independent training course in core analysis data acquisition and utilisation in 1990 and has now taught over 100 courses to over 1500 industry professionals, worldwide. Colin has written several technical papers, regularly presents at industry conferences worldwide and has been a Technical Editor for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Formation Evaluation publication. He was a SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2010-2011, lecturing on core analysis. Colin has a BSc in applied geology from Strathclyde University and a masters in civil engineering from Glasgow University.

Jules Reed is Senergy’s Global Core Analysis Manager and has over 20 years’ experience in routine and special core analysis and coreflooding studies gained with Core Laboratories, Corex UK, ResLab, and most recently, Weatherford Labs where he was Technical Director, Core Services. He has specialized in product development, data quality control, training and design and interpretation of specialist coreflood/dynamic test studies (including CO2, WAG, EOR and IOR). Jules has held several board positions in the Society of Core Analysts including VP Technology and President, and was Chapter Chairman of SPE Trondheim Section

Izaskun Zubizaretta is currently a Principal Core Analysis Specialist with Senergy and has 14 years experience in the interpretation and performance of core analysis, being involved in project management programmes and core data analysis for national oil companies as well as several independent operators.
